Gettin' ho-ey

We’re getting there.

Shopping (groceries and presents) is wrapped up. The house and tree are done. Well, except for the last few strings of lights, but that’s an act of God — a south wind is blowing and it’s raining hard enough that electrocution via falling ladder, extension cord and shrubbery is a real possibility — so I can’t be blamed.

Hear me, J?

Mom is home and doing well. If we can manage to keep her from strangling herself with the oxygen line she’ll be fine. The various children are rounded up (in the same state, at least) and content not trying to kill each other.

After an absolutely hellacious week, I may get a day off.

The best part of Christmas so far: while digging out the most fragile of the ornaments, I came across my winter leather. I love that jacket. The silky liner, the smooth calfskin, the bloodstain on the sleeve, the smell of cigars, Scotch and cheap cologne. It’s my security blanket and I was distraught at the thought of losing it.

I also found an old duster, for those times I want to wrap myself in a cow, but I’m not sure I can pull that look off anymore… if I ever could.

I really need to put something here. Something about myself, something about this site. Something.

Maybe right after I add site navigation... say, a week from never.
